Seminar on ‘Value Addition Technologies for Spun Yarn’ (“VATSY")

Jawaharlal Darda Institute of Technology, Yavatmal, and A.T.E. Enterprises Private Limited jointly organized a seminar on ‘Value Addition Technologies for Spun Yarn’ (“VATSY") on 18 September 2009 at the institute campus.  More than 40 delegates from industry and over 100 students from different institutes attended the programme.

The seminar covered a series of topics on value addition in spun yarn, such as:

  • Importance and methods of value addition in spun yarn
  • Value addition techniques like slub yarn, multi count and multi twist attachments
  • Special features of SKAAT attachment, the latest technology in ‘effect yarn manufacturing’
  • Various methods of compact spinning

The programme also dedicated a one and half hour session on "values and ethics",  aided by a lot of audio/video clippings and interactions.  The session was actually meant only for students, as budding professionals, to drive home the importance of ‘values and ethics’ in personal and professional life.  However, many of the participants from industry also evinced a lot of interest in this part of the programme and took full part in this interactive session.

The institute’s management, delegates and students fully appreciated the efforts of A.T.E. in working with engineering colleges in organizing such interesting programmes.
